Many non-profits and higher education institutions offer scholarships, internships, and fellowships specifically for Latino/a and migrant students. Check back periodically to find out about local, state, and federal opportunities!

Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards: US citizen or legal resident, 12 grade, 3.0+GPA. Due 9/30.

Deadline in October

Golden Door Scholars (specifically for students who qualify for DACA) is due 10/01.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship: US citizen or legal resident, 12 grade. Due 10/15.

College JumpStart Scholarship: US citizen or legal resident, 10th-12th grader, college student or non-traditional student. Due 10/17.

Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest UNDOCU-FRIENDLY!: 12 Grade, College Undergraduates, and Graduate Students. Due 10/24.

Horatio Alger NC Scholarship: US citizen, 2.0+GPA, 12 grade. Due 10/25.

Univision 40 Nuestra Juventud Scholarship is due 10/30.

Coca-Cola Scholarship: US citizens, US National, US Permanent Resident, Refugee, Asylee, Cuban-Haitian Entrant, or Humanitarian Parolee, 12 grade, 3.0+GPA. Due 10/31.

Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards – Community Service Category: US citizen or legal resident, 12 grade, 3.0+GPA. Due 10/31.

SunTrust Off To College Scholarship UNDOCUFRIENDLY!: 12 grade, current undergrad college student. Various drawings beginning on 10/31.

Deadline in November

Veterans of Foreign Wars-Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Competition, no status restrictions and due Nov. 1st.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, no status restrictions and due Nov. 5th.

Deadline in December

AfterCollege Scholarship due December 31st, some legal status restrictions.

Community Foundation of Henderson County Scholarships available in December.

Deadline in January

NC Hispanic College Fund for high school seniors and college students, due January 15th.

Hispanic League Scholarships for those living or who have lived in Forsyth County. UNDOCUFRIENDLY! Application period from October 15-January 18.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund opens enrollment on January 15th.

Cumberland Community Foundation Scholarship due 03/31 at 11:59pm.

The Dream.US High School and Community College Graduate Scholarship DACA FRIENDLY, TPS FRIENDLY!  Scholarship for high school graduates or scholarship for community college graduates. Only for certain colleges, check the website for more information. Due 03/01 at 11:59 pm.

Financial Futures Scholarship is for future and current college students majoring in Business, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Management, and others preparing for a career in the personal finance industry. Applicants will be judged based on outstanding academic achievement and submission of an essay. The scholarship award amount is $1,000. Applications are due July 31st

 

Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation Non-Profit Internship Program (NPIP) for pell grant eligible North Carolina undergraduates. Undergraduates must be in a four-year college or university. Students ineligible for a Pell grant due to documentation issues or criminal conviction should contact Jose Oliva, 336-725-7541 ext. 112. Host organization applicants contact: Khaetlyn Grindell, 336-725-7541 ext. 113. Witness for Peace Southeast is looking for interns for the following positions: Pilgrimage for Peace & Justice (Spring), Fundraising Intern, Data Management Intern.

The Southern Coalition for Social Justice seeks a student intern to assist in its immigrants’ rights project. The position pays $15 per hour for 10 hours per week. The intern must have a car and be a fluent Spanish-speaker. Please contact George Eppsteiner at George@southerncoalition.org for further information.

ZSR Non-Profit Internship Program–Each summer, the program awards 20 college and university students, enrolled in four-year institutions across the state, with paid internships at ZSR-grantee organizations that are working to advance the Foundation’s values in the areas of Community Economic Development, Public Education, Social Justice & Equity, Environment, and/or Strengthening Democracy. Deadline is February 12th at noon.

SAF Into the Fields Internship and Sowing Seeds for Change Fellowship–Through these programs, you will support farmworker agencies and organizations and get trained on the issues surrounding farmworkers’ lives and the broader context of the agricultural industry. Each summer, Student Action with Farmworkers places 30 college students with organizations that serve, organize or advocate for farmworker justice. SAF interns come from diverse backgrounds and about half are from farmworker families.  Deadline to apply is February 3rd.
